Romano Regazzi

Romano Regazzi obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Basel, Switzerland, and did a postdoctoral training with Dr Claes Wollheim at the University of Geneva. After earning a Career Development Award from the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, he moved to the University of Lausanne where he is currently full professor and vice-director of the School of medicine. The research of Dr Regazzi aims at understanding the molecular mechanisms controlling the activities of pancreatic beta-cells under normal and pathophysiological conditions. During the last few years, his group investigated the role of different classes of non-coding RNAs in the regulation of beta-cell functions and in the development of type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
