When Diabetes Meets the Liver: MASLD in Focus

This year’s special issue focuses on the liver and diabetes.

On the cover image, the spotlight is shone on individuals across different stages of life, genders and ethnicities, all linked by metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and diabetes. MASLD is represented by lipid droplets (yellow circles) within the liver, while diabetes is depicted through the pancreas and key insulin target tissues (the liver, skeletal muscle and adipose tissue). The geometric, interconnected design reflects the complexity of inter-organ crosstalk and its dysregulation in these metabolic conditions.
