Charlotte Boughton (MD, PhD) is a Clinical Lecturer in Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University of Cambridge. She also has an honorary clinical position at Cambridge University NHS Foundation Trust.
Her research focuses on the use of diabetes technologies, in particular closed-loop (automated insulin delivery) systems to improve outcomes for people with diabetes. Her research interests include the use of hybrid closed-loop for people living with cystic fibrosis related diabetes, and the application of a fully closed-loop approach for adults with type 2 diabetes both in the acute hospital setting and also in outpatient home studies.
She also has an interest in broadening access to technology and implementation, developing educational tools for healthcare professionals and people with diabetes to ultimately support wider adoption and reimbursement.
Her research is funded by National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and the European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes.Back to Editorial Board
