Donal O'Gorman

Donal O’Gorman is Interim Director of the National Institute for Cellular Biotechnology at Dublin City University (DCU). He also leads the 3U Diabetes Consortium, a network of researchers based in DCU, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Maynooth University. Donal completed his PhD in Clinical Medicine following an MSc (Exercise Physiology) at Penn State University. His research is focused on the regulation of energy expenditure, substrate utilization and insulin sensitivity and how they can contribute to normal health and the development of diabetes. He is particularly interested in skeletal muscle metabolism and the impact of contraction and inactivity on gene expression and mitochondrial function.
