Riitta Veijola

Professor Riitta Veijola (MD, PhD) is a specialist in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology. She spent her postdoctoral period at the University of Cambridge, UK. Upon her return to Finland, her research expanded to national and international prospective birth cohort studies. She chairs the Finnish Type 1 Diabetes Prediction and Prevention (DIPP) study and leads the Diabetes Research Laboratory in University of Oulu where islet autoantibodies are measured. Riitta Veijola also leads and participates in several RCTs testing therapies to prevent or delay T1D. She has published >400 articles, has >14200 citations and her H index is 60.
