Tove Fall

Tove Fall trained as a veterinarian at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and wrote her PhD thesis on the topic of spontaneous diabetes in dogs but transitioned to human genetic epidemiology of obesity and diabetes during her post-doc. She is now a Professor in Molecular Epidemiology at Uppsala University in Sweden. The focus of Professor Fall’s research is to identify risk factors and causes for diabetes and cardiovascular disease onset and progression. Professor Fall applies modern statistical and epidemiological tools for causal inference in large datasets with information from large-scale molecular analysis and health information from registers and medical records. Professor Fall is holding an ERC Starting Grant to study the impact of gut microbiota on the metabolism and on atherosclerosis.
